Born in East Texas, Jennifer "JennJenn" Madewell Briggs, moved around a lot in her early years, due to her father being the oil field business. Because of the constant traveling, her and her sister were home schooled for most of their early education. As a young child, JennJenn knew she was called to ministry and was a very independent girl. At 17 years of old, she went to college and graduated Texas Bible Institute in 1992. For the following year, she was employed in full-time ministry at Burchfield Ministries. In 1993, she moved back home and received her Associates Degree from Trinity Valley Community College in 1999. In 2001, JennJenn married her husband Phillip.
JennJenn has had many experiences to list in her resume. She was a volunteer peer counselor at a youth detention center for several months. She was employed at Trinity Valley Community College for seven years, where she worked in Correctional Education with inmates in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In 1998, she received her license in Emergency Medical Technology. For seven years, she worked at Tyler Pipe Company as Sales Reporting Coordinator. In 2005 & 2006, she began working on her black belt in Karate and competing in tournaments. All the while, attending church and working in the ministry as a youth leader, missions coordinator and drama director. In 2007, she took a position as Creative Media Director for a large church in the East Texas Area. Her duties ranged from Drama Director, Marketing, Executive Assistant, Graphic Artist and Webmaster.
For the first several years of their marriage, JennJenn and Phillip made good money, had a big house on the lake, multiple cars and water toys. Everything was perfect, yet they felt that we were missing something. Her husband started a lawn service and began to hire workers from Calvary Commission in Lindale, TX. This is a ministry that helps ex-cons get back into society by teaching them the bible, etc. There they met a man named Lynden, who had spent 13 years in prison for robbery and drugs. After Lynden graduated the program he was in, JennJenn and Phillip felt led to invite him and his wife to live with them - and they did so for the next four years. This was the first major step in walking into the ministry that God had called them into for reaching the homeless and those struggling with addictions.
JennJenn and Phillip joined the White Chocolate ministry team in 2007 and felt the Lord leading them to Longview. Phillip had seen a bumper sticker that read: "Live Simply, So Others Can Simply Live". He took that to heart. After praying that God would show them what to do, they took the next step in their calling and along with the other members of the White Chocolate ministry team, started the House of Disciples Life Recovery Center. Currently, JennJenn and Phillip live and work on site.
